The product does not rely on one oversized drawer. Its functions are nested so that the closed module remains compact in the cargo area while the current development target provides a working line of roughly 70 inches when fully deployed.
The fixed or vehicle-side body remains closest to the cargo floor. It carries the inner slide structure and provides the principal storage volume. Cookware, dry food and the portable stove can be assigned secure travel positions here, subject to the approved divider layout.
The upper surface can serve as a shelf while the kitchen is open. In the proposed arrangement, a portable water container can sit on this surface and gravity-feed the basin. For an INTECAMP program, the same area can be developed for a water tank, storage box or general work surface. Any tank requires its own travel restraint; it must not simply be left loose on top of the cabinet.
The middle section places a folding basin beside a flat preparation area. The basin can collapse below the worktop line for transport and open when washing is required. A shallow drawer beneath or beside the work surface keeps cutlery, tongs, knives and serving tools accessible without opening the main storage bay.
A folding basin is only one part of a water system. The buyer must still define how clean water is delivered and where used water is collected. Gravity feed, a rechargeable pump or connection to an onboard system can be considered. A drain hose and gray-water container should be specified where wastewater cannot be released at the campsite.
The front section provides the stove platform. The current target tray is roughly 23 × 15.7 inches, which accommodates many compact two-burner camp stoves. The exact appliance must still be approved by model before the tray, retention points and heat clearances are frozen.
Two telescoping legs support the outer corners. The current target adjustment range is approximately 24–38 inches, allowing the platform to meet different cargo-floor heights and modest ground variation. Each foot still needs firm bearing; adjustable legs do not make unstable mud, loose rock or a steep slope safe for cooking.

These components should have defined travel positions. Hooks and holders that are convenient at camp can become noise or impact points if they are left loose in the vehicle.
The design is intended for a short setup sequence, but a specific time should be published only after a timed test on the final aluminum model. A realistic sequence is: open the rear door, release the vehicle restraint, extend and lock each section, deploy both legs, open the basin, fit the accessory holders and place the stove in its operating position.
This is faster than building a kitchen from separate furniture, but setup time also depends on how the stove, water container and cookware are secured for travel.
An aluminum overland kitchen drawer system is a vehicle-mounted storage and cooking module that fits in the rear load area and extends through the tailgate or rear door. Unlike a freestanding camping kitchen, it remains installed during travel. Unlike an ordinary cargo drawer, it provides a deliberate working layout for meal preparation rather than storage alone.

These installation details determine whether the kitchen becomes a reliable part of the vehicle or an awkward piece of equipment that is removed after one season.
Aluminum is well suited to vehicle kitchens because it can reduce cabinet weight compared with an equivalent all-steel design. Lower mass leaves more of the vehicle's payload available for water, fuel, recovery equipment and personal gear.
Weight, however, is only part of the decision. A durable aluminum drawer depends on the alloy, section shape, sheet thickness, folds, joints, fasteners and internal reinforcement. A thin panel can look clean in a photograph but drum, twist or fatigue under rough-road use. A heavy panel may be strong but cancel the reason for choosing aluminum in the first place.

The slide system carries two nested working stages away from the vehicle body. The main extension supports the wash/preparation section; a further extension carries the cooking tray. Each stage must operate smoothly when loaded, remain locked in its approved working position and stay positively retained during travel.

Slide capacity should be evaluated in the approved mounting orientation. A rail designed for vertical side mounting can perform differently when installed flat. Extension length, shock loading, cabinet stiffness and vehicle vibration all affect complete-system performance.
The outermost platform gives a portable stove a defined location instead of placing it on a loose table or directly on the bumper. In this layout it slides out beneath the wash/preparation section, then rests on two adjustable legs. This places the hottest working zone farthest from the cargo compartment and keeps the central surface available for chopping and serving.
The target tray is suitable for development around a compact two-burner stove, but it must be matched to an exact appliance. Important points include:

A generic “two-burner stove compatible” statement is not enough for engineering approval. Two appliances with similar outside dimensions may have different ventilation openings, connection points or clearance requirements.
The stove, gas bottle, regulator, hose and power source are not included unless the confirmed packing list says otherwise.
A separate central worktop keeps chopping and food preparation away from the hot appliance. In the proposed three-stage layout, it sits beside the folding basin and above the side utensil drawer. This lets the user rinse, prepare and pass ingredients forward to the stove without closing another section.
Worktop options can include sealed plywood, bamboo, compact composite board, stainless steel or coated aluminum, subject to the required finish and use. Material selection should consider edge durability, moisture, stain removal, heat exposure, knife use and replacement cost.
Where direct food contact is claimed, the buyer should define the required material documentation and cleaning instructions for the destination market.
The storage layout is planned around the way a camp kitchen is used. The main rear body provides volume for cookware, supplies and the packed appliance, while the shallow side drawer keeps frequently handled tools at the working edge. Heavy cookware should sit low and near the vehicle. Tall bottles need restraints. Small utensils need dividers that do not become a source of rattle.

When a gravity-feed container is placed on the rear cabinet, it needs an approved capacity, stable operating position and positive travel restraint. Tank capacity must be balanced against payload, lifting comfort and available storage. Every liter of water adds approximately one kilogram to the vehicle load before the tank, pump and hardware are counted.
The kitchen must remain closed while the vehicle accelerates, brakes, corners and travels over corrugated roads. A convenient campsite latch is not automatically an adequate travel restraint.

A removable configuration can use ratchet straps around the cabinet, but only when their rating, routing, hooks and vehicle anchor points are approved. A strap around interior trim or an unrated cargo loop is not an engineered installation. The final restraint strategy should reflect the intended road use, installed mass and receiving vehicle structure.
Many rear-cargo kitchens leave the cook facing into the vehicle while everyone else sits behind them. INTECAMP can develop the work surface so it opens toward the campsite, allowing food preparation and serving to happen closer to the group.
Depending on the vehicle height and project brief, the layout can support standing use, a lower seated working position or a fold-out surface that reaches beyond the tailgate. The aim is not simply to add more panels. It is to place the person cooking back into the campsite rather than isolating them at the rear door.
Working height, leg clearance, platform support and stove safety must be checked for the selected arrangement. The social layout is an OEM option, not a universal feature of every configuration.
Vehicle payload disappears quickly once passengers, water, fuel, fridge, battery, recovery equipment and roof accessories are counted. A lighter cabinet can preserve useful capacity without giving up organized storage.
Aluminum does not behave like bare carbon steel, but it should not be marketed as immune to corrosion. Salt, trapped moisture, cleaning products and contact with dissimilar metals can still damage a poorly detailed assembly. Drainage, surface treatment and material isolation matter.
Bolted or riveted aluminum assemblies can allow individual panels, slides and latches to be replaced. This is useful for rental fleets and international distributors that need practical after-sales support.
A well-finished aluminum system fits naturally with premium overland equipment, especially when the color, handles and hardware are coordinated with the vehicle or brand range.
Folded sheet and extrusion-based structures can create thin, stiff walls. That can leave more usable drawer width than a thick timber carcass within the same cargo envelope.
The benefit is not guaranteed by material name alone. Buyers should compare complete installed weight, usable internal volume, tested load and service access.
A wide drawer carries the cooking platform and storage in one module. It suits simpler programs and can leave one side of the cargo area available for a fridge or water container.
Two drawers separate kitchen equipment from general cargo. One side can hold the stove and cookware while the other carries food, recovery tools or camping supplies.
A shallow drawer sits beneath a flat deck, preserving a level surface for luggage or a sleeping platform. This layout must be kept low enough to maintain usable rear visibility and hatch clearance.
The kitchen occupies one side while a fridge slide, power system or water tank uses the other. Combined width, ventilation and service access must be confirmed together.
Quick-release mounting can be evaluated for buyers who need to return the vehicle to daily use. The release system must still provide positive retention and repeatable alignment when installed.
Side infill panels can follow wheel arches and interior trim, creating additional storage around a central drawer. These panels normally require model-specific dimensions.

This product should not be described as a universal drawer that fits every SUV.
The same nominal cargo width can hide major differences in trim shape, tie-down position, rear-seat angle, floor height and door opening. Even within one model name, wheelbase, seating configuration, hybrid battery location and model-year updates can change the available space.

Naming a vehicle on an enquiry form does not establish compatibility.
Measure the clear usable space, not only the widest point between trim panels. The drawer must pass through the narrowest part of the rear opening and clear the door, latch, seals and bumper during its complete travel.
If the vehicle has a side-hinged rear door or tailgate-mounted spare wheel, the work surface may need additional extension before it can open fully.
The system should be attached to vehicle-approved structural or cargo anchor points. Screwing through a thin cargo floor, battery cover or plastic trim is not an adequate installation method.

The calculation must include more than the empty drawer. Add the stove, cookware, food, water, fridge, electrical equipment and any load placed on top of the deck.
Keep heavy items low and as far forward as practical. A large mass behind the rear axle can change handling and reduce the margin available for passengers or other accessories.
Vehicle gross mass, axle limits and manufacturer guidance remain controlling. A kitchen that physically fits is not necessarily suitable for the available payload.

Deflection matters as much as headline capacity. Excessive drop at full extension can cause the platform to foul the bumper, make liquids unstable or misalign the latch.
In a sudden stop, every stored item attempts to continue moving forward. Drawer latches, internal dividers and cabinet mounting therefore form part of a complete restraint system.
If a buyer requires a stated crash or deceleration performance, the test conditions, load arrangement, installation structure and acceptance criteria must be defined before the claim is made.
Portable stoves should be operated only in the conditions allowed by the appliance manufacturer. The rear hatch, door trim, awning, canvas, weather seals, fuel containers and stored goods must remain outside the specified heat and ventilation clearances.
A heat-resistant tray is not a substitute for correct ventilation. Windscreens and side panels can reflect heat toward the vehicle or trap hot gases if they are poorly positioned.
Gas cylinders, canisters, regulators and hoses require a market- and appliance-specific review. Enclosed storage can create hazards if fuel leaks or overheats. Fuel equipment should never be assumed to travel inside a closed drawer merely because it fits.
The buyer and installer must define the approved fuel type, storage position, ventilation, connection procedure and isolation method.
Induction cooktops, pumps, lights and charging sockets can be evaluated for suitable vehicle builds. The available voltage, peak current, cable size, fuse protection, connector, inverter and battery capacity must be confirmed as one system.
High-power cooking equipment should not be added to an accessory socket without checking the complete electrical design.
Fresh- and gray-water tanks should be removable without dismantling the drawer. Hoses need controlled routing, accessible connectors and protection from abrasion. Water should not be able to leak unseen into the vehicle floor or electrical compartment.
For cold-climate use, trapped water and freeze expansion must be considered in the pump, faucet, hose and drain design.
A showroom-smooth drawer can become noisy after hours on corrugated tracks. Anti-rattle pads, positive latches, controlled clearances and restrained accessories are therefore part of the product design.
Dust protection should focus on real entry paths—drawer gaps, handle cut-outs, slide channels and cable openings. A drawer may be dust resistant without being sealed against water immersion.
Installed height should preserve the driver's required rearward visibility where applicable. The system must not obstruct seat locking, belt anchorages, airbags, battery ventilation or other vehicle safety equipment.

External dimensions do not show how much storage remains after rails, reinforcements, latches and water equipment are installed.
Ask how the drawer was mounted, extended and loaded during testing. A catalog rail rating is not the same as a complete-system load rating.
The primary slides carry the weight and leverage of every section beyond them. Buyers should review the fully deployed load case, not test the stove tray and main drawer as unrelated assemblies.
Confirm that the leg adjustment range suits the cargo-floor height of every approved vehicle. The feet should remain stable on firm ground and should not rely on the smallest telescoping overlap at normal working height.
Every moving stage needs a clear open, close and lock sequence. Users should not have to reach beneath a hot stove to release the inner tray, and one section should not retract unexpectedly while another is being loaded.
